In preparation for a new website for a Canberra civil construction company, Digital Tsunami has been documenting infrastructure development in a new northern suburb of Canberra. The photography has been shot from both on the ground and in the air.

Shooting on a construction site has unique challenges for a photographer. Induction training is necessary to ensure that safety is a constant vigilance. The sheer scope of vistas and equipment requires adept composition. The operating cost (of many tens of thousands of dollars per hour), demands strict discipline and agility to capture desired images without affecting the pace of work on the site. Dust and mud offer technical challenges to ensuring the photographic equipment (and images) remain clear.

Digital Tsunami personnel have worked in the building, construction and engineering sector for decades. They have delivered photography, video and websites for clients including: Barclay Mowlem, Bilfinger Berger, Franki Contructions, Kerry Properties, Leighton Asia and Thiess Services Middle East.

The client works on major civil projects in Canberra, but possessed only a limited visual asset archive. Digital Tsunami initiated an archive with photography of a current project and plans for shooting selected elements of past projects and in future, further supplementing this with video.

Digital Tsunami has a long history of delivering photographic solutions for clients across a broad range of business sectors and geographical locations. Recent projects have included corporate portrait photography in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, manufacturing processes at a vast factory in southern China, and capturing images of products, exhibition booths and delegates at international trade shows in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

For a law firm, corporate and architectural photography was captured in each of the three capital cities.

Primarily shooting corporate portraits of professional and administrative personnel, the opportunity was maximised by additional photography of interiors and exteriors of the office buildings.

The results will be integrated into the client’s new web presence and print collaterals.
